As church was dismissing today, a small child brought me card. I wasn't sure if it was really for me or if I was supposed to pass it on to someone else. I asked the child if I should open the card and the answer was and excited, "Yes"! Inside it read:
When you are adopting you lack the physical reminder you have while pregnant. For that reason, I wore a bracelet like this while we were waiting to complete our adoption. There is an ancient Chinese belief that says,
An invisible red thread connects those who are destined to meet, regardless of time, place, or circumstance. The thread may stretch or tangle, but will never break.
I hope it helps fill you with as much joyful anticipation as it did me."
Inside the card was a beautiful little red pouch that contained a silver bracelet with a red thread woven through it and two charms - a heart and a ladybug. I'll have to read more about what the ladybug symbolizes in China - I think it represents good luck. This special family also contributed financially to help us bring our baby home. I searched everywhere in the Children's Ministry to thank them, but they were already gone! My entire body was covered in chills and I felt so THANKFUL!
As we continue on our adoption journey, my prayer is that we can touch other families through our adoption journey. We are hopeful that other families will feel the same tug on their hearts that we did to adopt or to somehow be a part of supporting one of the 143million orphans in the world. Please know that we love sharing our story and we are happy to answer any questions you may have about adoption.
